Most recent smartphones support it, including iPhone XS and later, Galaxy S23 series and Z Fold4/Z Flip4 and later (Korean domestic models), and Google Pixel 4 and later. Go to Settings → "Cellular" → "Add Cellular Plan" — if "Add eSIM" appears, your device is supported. If not, dial "*#06#" in your Phone app and check whether an EID shows up.
The QR code is emailed to you immediately after payment. Install it before you leave, and it connects automatically the moment you land in Japan.
ChatGPT and Google Maps traffic runs on a separate line from your plan's data, so it's never deducted from what you purchased. This applies the same way on every plan.
Due to the nature of digital content, refunds aren't available once your eSIM has been issued, as a general rule. Exceptions apply if a technical error prevented you from receiving your QR code, your device turns out not to support eSIM, or a network outage meant you used less than 30% of your plan's total data with 6+ consecutive hours of verified disruption. Requests must be submitted within 14 days of the issue occurring — see our refund policy page for full details.
